What is World Down Syndrome Day?
3/21 is World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD)! This day was chosen to symbolize the third copy of chromosome 21 in Trisomy 21, the most common form of Down syndrome. Join DSAM in celebrating this very special day! Purchase your Awareness Ribbon from DSAM.World Down Syndrome Day is observed in more than 60 countries worldwide. Many organizations and communities promote WDSD to raise people’s awareness & understanding of Down syndrome. Activities & events that take place on March 21 and throughout March, showcase the abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. These events also focus on encouraging independence, self-advocacy & freedom of choices for people with Down syndrome.

Ask your school or business to host a Dress Down for Down Syndrome Day
Looking for a great way for you and your fellow staff or students to get involved in the community? The Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South invites your school or business to participate in Dress Down for Down Syndrome in honor of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st. Your school or business will pick any day in March or April and offer the staff and/or students the opportunity to have jeans day, hat day, pajama day, etc. by making a donation to the Down Syndrome Association. Upon request, DSAM will provide posters and stickers for you. DSAM can come to your school or business to speak upon request. Call 901-547-7588 for more information.
