What is World Down Syndrome Day?  

World Down Syndrome Day is observed in more than 60 countries worldwide. Many organizations and communities promote WDSD to raise people’s awareness & understanding of Down syndrome. Activities & events that take place on March 21 and throughout March, showcase the abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. These events also focus on encouraging independence, self-advocacy & freedom of choices for people with Down syndrome.

Start your 2017 Step Up for Down Syndrome Team!

Get your Step Up team started for 2017!  Starting March 21st you can visit the DSAM website and click on 2017 Step Up for Down Syndrome to start your team! Save the Date for STEP UP on October 15th at Christian Brothers University!

In honor of opening up the Step Up website and celebrating 20 years of walking, the signature DS Awareness shoes are now $ 20!  Get yours today before they are gone! Available at the DSAM office with check / cash or click HERE to order online. Support DS Awareness all year long! 

 

Ask your school or business to host a Dress Down for Down Syndrome Day

Looking for a great way for you and your fellow staff or students to get involved in the community?    The Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South invites your school or business to participate in Dress Down for Down Syndrome in honor of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st.   Your school or business will pick any day in March or April and offer the staff and/or students the opportunity to have jeans day, hat day, pajama day, etc. by making a donation to the Down Syndrome Association.   Upon request, DSAM will provide posters and stickers for you.  DSAM can come to your school or business to speak upon request.  Click here for the 2017 Dress Down Information & Commitment Form.

Participate in a Dine Out for Down Syndrome Night

In honor of World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South is collaborating with local restaurants during the month of March in order to enhance public awareness within our society of the inherent worth, value and contributions of people with Down syndrome.  You will visit the restaurant on the designated night and they will donate a portion back to the DSAM!  

Celebrate WDSD at Chili's Olive Branch or Wolfchase!

March 21st:  Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st at either of the below two Chili's Locations between 11 am and 11 pm and let them know you are there to support DSAM and they will donate a portion back to the organization!

March 21st 11 am to 10 pm   Chili's Olive Branch, 7910 Craft-Goodman Road, Olive Branch, Mississippi 38654 

March 21st 11 am to 10 pm Chili's, Wolfchase, The Commons, 8100 Giacosa Pl, Memphis, TN 38133

 

March 28th In continuing to celebrate Down Syndrome Awarness: Visit Texas Roadhouse, 7125 Desoto Cove, Horn Lake MS between 4 - 9 pm and they will donate a portion back to the DSAM in honor of WDSD!
