Building Dreams for Down Syndrome, One Brick at a Time

  1. Is my donation tax deductible? Yes, DSAM is incorporated in the State of TN as a non-profit corporation 501 (c) (3).  All donations are tax deductible.

  1. I know the goal is to raise $500,000.  What will the money be used for?  The money raised will allow DSAM to secure a new home, which will have tutoring classrooms equipped with the tools we need to effectively tutor.  It will include a sensory and motor skills area which will incorporate music therapy.  There will be a fully equipped kitchen with opportunities for Mom’s to stop by and visit while children play.  Our services and programs desperately need to be expanded to support the growth that we’ve encountered over the last few years.  This space will allow for much needed educational seminars to support our families.  DSAM will have a presence in the community and opportunities for increased advocacy.

  1. I know one-time donations are accepted.  May I pledge a larger amount and pay over time?  Yes, there is a giving plan that encourages financial commitments over a three year (36 month) period.  An initial offering of 50% of your total gift is requested at the time of your gift plan selection, with the remainder paid quarterly or annually over the remaining period.

  1. What is your acknowledgement policy for donations?  It is the policy of DSAM that after a gift has been received, a receipt is generated and mailed or emailed to the donor based on the method of payment.   Additional recognition is outlined in our Capitals Campaign’s Levels of Giving, but if you wish for your donation to remain anonymous, we will gladly accommodate the request.

  1. Who will decide how money is allocated?  Our board of directors and staff is committed to securing a new building that is both inviting and provides the best possible resources for DSAM’s children, families and friends.  Our board is dedicated to making decisions based on careful discussion and clear communication among the members.
