On March 21st, 2020, please join us for the 3rd Annual ‘Walkin’ In Memphis: Down Syndrome Awareness Walk!’ In 2017 a local dad, Joshua Greer, created & founded this challenge event in which he walks all day long across the city of Memphis on 3.21, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD). The event is a day to celebrate the diversity & abilities within all individuals, as well as raise awareness & funds for Down syndrome, in honor of his daughter Marley Grace Greer & all of the wonderful individuals with Down syndrome & other disabilities all around the world!

Josh's goal this year is to raise $21,000 with all proceeds benefitting the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & The Mid-South (DSAM) so they can continue to enrich & expand programs in the Mid-South community for the individuals & families they serve!

NEW!!! Participate this year! Click below to see how!

Like previous years, Joshua will walk for 12+ hours across the Memphis area, formally stopping at 13 well-known Memphis attractions to take pictures with supporters, self-advocates, sponsors, news outlets, local politicians/celebrities & many others.  At each stop, Joshua will “raise” the global symbol for Down syndrome, the butterfly (click the 'PARTICIPATE' link above to see how you can get involved!!!).

Joshua will start walking at the crack of dawn on 3.21, starting at The Big River Crossing bridge. Various events will be planned at each stop (follow us on FB for updates!), with a special stop at the Peabody Hotel where Joshua will be the honorary duckmaster again this year for the procession of ducks. This event is free & open to the public.

The 13th & final stop of the walk will end at Mud Island Ampitheater! That's when the party begins inside River Terrace on Mud Island! River terrace is located right next to the Amphitheater and will be open to the public from 4pm - 9pm. We will have food trucks, a cash bar, live music, a VIP entrance, cornhole, a kids play area, a silent auction & much more with all proceeds going to the DSAM!  We will then watch the M-bridge & Harahan bridge light up in blue & yellow, the official colors for Down syndrome! Feel free to join us at 6:30pm and/or 8:30pm as we take group pictures & show our support as a community for individuals with Down syndrome!

If you or your organization would like to partner with Joshua & the DSAM please contact us (info below).  Please reach out to Joshua if you have any questions, feedback, donation inquires or collaboration ideas. Finally, help us by liking, sharing & following our social media accounts so that we can continue to grow & spread the word about this event!
